Research Area:
All available research areas in HFSP Fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria:
1) Nationality
Only a research institution in one of the member nations will accept applications from candidates who are not citizens of one of the HFSP members (see list below). Any candidate from a member nation may submit an application to work in a research institute there.
Candidates must propose to work in a nation other than the one in which they completed their first post-doctoral or preceding Ph.D. studies. The nation in which the laboratory is located will be regarded as the host country for institutions that are not categorized as national, such as international or extraterritorial institutes like EMBL, ICPT, or ICGEB.
2) Doctoral degree
By the start of the fellowship, the applicant must hold a research doctorate (Ph.D.) or a doctoral-level degree equal to a Ph.D. with equivalent expertise in fundamental research (e.g., a research-based MD or medical Ph.D.). During submission, it is not necessary. We imply by “conferred degree” that you have now got your degree’s diploma. The date on the official Ph.D. document is referred to as the “conferral date”. For information, please go to the application guidelines if you haven’t already received your Ph.D.
3) Research publications
By the Letter of Intent submission deadline, applicants must have at least one lead author publication. This publication might be a paper that has been (1) published in a reputable OA preprint repository, (2) accepted for publication, (3) in the press, or (4) already published by a peer-reviewed journal.
However, in accordance with points (2) to (4) above, submission of a fellowship application at the Full Proposal stage is only permitted with a published research publication. Only peer-reviewed, full-length original research articles in English—for which the candidate must either be the sole author, first author, or joint first author—are accepted by HFSP. The applicant does not have to be listed first in a manuscript with several first authors, but each author’s equal contribution must always be made apparent.
First authorship may not always be achievable due to accepted publishing practices (such as an alphabetical list of authors); this must be stated in the application.
