Types of scholarships:
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship offers four types of scholarships to eligible students. Details are given below:

1# Florida Academic Scholarship (FAS):

  • 3.50 weighted GPA
  • 100 operating hours or 100 paid work hours
  • 16 high school credits required
  • Achieve a minimum ACT®/SAT® score by June 30 of the year of high school graduation

2# Florida Medallion Scholarship (FMS):

  • 3.00 weighted GPA
  • 75 operating hours or 100 paid working hours
  • 16 high school credits required
  • Achieve a minimum ACT®/SAT® score by June 30 of the year of high school graduation

3# Gold Seal Cape Scholarship (GSC):

  • No GPA requirement
  • 30 operating hours or 100 paid working hours
  • 5 CAPE postsecondary credit hours
  • No ACT®/SAT® scores required

4# Professional Gold Seal Scholarship (GSV):

  • 3.00 weighted GPA in optional courses
  • 3.5 unweighted GPA in career education courses
  • 3 full credits in a single career and technical education program
  • 30 operating hours or 100 paid working hours
  • No compulsory courses
  • Achieve a minimum ACT®/SAT® or P.E.R.T. test score by June 30 of the year of high school graduation

General Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a resident of Florida and a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen as determined by the student’s postsecondary institution.
  • Complete the FFAA no later than August 31st after high school graduation.
  • Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its equivalent from a Florida public high school or a Florida Department of Education
  • (FDOE) registered private high school; or complete a home education program.
  • They have not been found guilty of or pleaded guilty to a crime unless the student has been pardoned by the governor and cabinet sitting as the executive pardon office.
  • Be accepted and enrolled in a degree or certificate program at an eligible public or independent postsecondary institution in Florida.
  • Be enrolled in at least six non-remedial semester credit hours (or the equivalent in quarter hours or hours) per semester

Specific eligibility requirements:

  • Graduate from a Florida public high school with a Florida standard baccalaureate.
  • Achieve the required minimum ACT® or SAT® college entrance exam score by June 30 of the year of high school graduation;
  • Complete the required number of volunteer services or 100 paid work hours; and
  • Submit the FFAA no later than August 31st after high school graduation
